LESSON
Why use a post-label?
You have all of these different types of posts, and now you want to organize them so that your users can quickly filter by the posts within a Channel or their Home Feed. With Post Labels, you can make it easier for your users to filter content on your IHUBApp and within certain Channels.
Assigning a Post Label
When you create a new Event post, a label is already assigned to those types of posts. For every other type of post, you can assign a label for that specific post. Make sure you don't create post labels with the same name as Channels. These labels are meant to be a different way of organizing content so users can search across various Channels. For example, you can create a post label for important memos called "Must Read," or you could create one called "Form" so people know at a glance what is inside the post.
Creating a Post Label
To create a new post label, navigate to 'Create' > 'Post Labels'. Select the Add symbol on the bottom right of the screen. Enter the name of your new Post Label. You can also enter a description for that label. The description is only shown to other people who can access this page and will not appear anywhere else in the HUB.
Changing the Color of a Post Label
To change the color of the post label, click the pallet icon and select the color, or insert the color's HEX number here. You can also change the text color to be black or white. The post label is the automatically set to the color you select but you can change this again at any time.
Finally, select 'Create.' And that's it! Your post label is now there, and you can start assigning posts with this new label. Users can now filter by posts with that label in the Home Feed or any Channel where they see the filter tab. Let's take a further look at the Post Labels page.
Viewing Your Post Labels in the Builder
Here is where you can see the total number of posts with this label. If you select this, it will take you to a filtered list of all the posts with this label.
Editing a Post Label
If you need to edit a post label, select the three-dot menu and then edit the label. You can set a default post label, which means that when a new post is created, the default label for that post will be the one you set here.
Deleting a Post Label
If you need to delete a post label, you first need to ensure there are no posts currently using that label. To do that, select the three-dot menu and then select 'Transfer.'
Choose the new label the posts will take on. This merge cannot be undone, so choose wisely, then select 'Merge' when you've made your choice. Now that all posts have been moved to another label, you can delete the post label. Select the three-dot menu and then select Delete. Your post label has now been deleted.
And that's post labels! Now, go create the different labels for your posts!
