How to use the Menu Editor

Hub Instructions

Note: You must be signed-in and have appropriate access granted to do the following.

1. Select the Top Nav Menu on your Hub
2. Click on your Profile
3. Navigate to Hub Administration 
4. Select 'Menu Editor' and the Menu Editor screen will appear.
   
5. Scroll to the bottom and select the 'ADD MENU ITEM' button
6. Fill out the fields to add your menu item.

To Add a Child Menu Item

1. Click on the menu item you wish to add a sub-item underneath.
2. At the bottom of the screen select 'ADD CHILD ITEM"
   

Types of Items to Add in Your Menu

• Divider: Will place a line between your menu items
• Header: Will allow you to place a title that is not clickable.
• Install: Will provide a prompt to help users install your app on their device
• Link: Will allow you to add a URL.
• MyChannels: Is our automated functionaility that tracks a users subscription to channels and provides them a convenient listing in the menu.

Build Instructions

The new menu editor can be found in the builder (Configure > Menu Editor) or the Hub (Hub administration > Menu Editor.

1. User View: Selecting “Logged Out”/”Logged In” will toggle between the menu view when a user is logged in or out

2. Menu Editor Field: Here you can change the menu item Type, visibility, title/name, URL, icon and whether or not the select Menu item will open in a new tab.
   
   When setting URLs that direct to anything within the Hub, a “local URL” (the term we coined for this) can be used. This is also important to do if you have a custom/vanity URL.
   
   ie. a local URL only uses whatever appears in the URL after the main portion of the domain. MAKE SURE THE LOCAL URL STARTS WITH A FORWARD SLASH! “/”

3. Menu Preview: This is a preview of what the menu will look like with whatever changes before actually having to save the changes.
   
   To move menu items, click and drag from the right side with the icon of vertical dots.
