Managing Channel Roles

Channel Roles allows you to assign different levels of access to users within your Channel. Channel Roles are helpful when you are working with a team of people managing content for a Channel, or want members of that Channel to help contribute content. 

System Defined Channel Roles

• Channel Owner – Has full access to all functionality of the Channel with the ability to create channel roles, change channel privacy and suspend the channel.

• Channel Administrator – User who has access to all functionality of the Channel without the ability create channel roles and cannot suspend the channel.

• Channel Publisher - User with permission to Create, Approve, Edit, and Publish content to the Channel and cannot invite users to the channel.

• Channel Contributor – User with permission to submit changes in content that can be published by the Publisher, Administrator or Owner the Channel, and cannot invite users to the channel.

• Channel Member - Individuals that have Joined, Requested to Join, or have been invited to the Channel that can access channel content from their IHUBApp when logged in, and cannot invite users to the channel. 

How to Create a Custom Channel Role

1. Select Channels & Members > Channels

2. Select which channel you would like to create a Custom Channel Role for

3. Click on Roles (If you cannot see Roles, you do not have access to create or edit Channel Roles, seek Channel Owner assistance)

4. Select "Add Role"
   

5. Name your new role

6. Toggle on what permissions you would like to give this role. You can use the drop down arrows to expand sections. You can use the System Defined Roles of Administrator, Publish, Contributor, and Member as a reference when building  your new role

How to Set a New Default Channel Role (with proper permissions)

1. Log into the Builder at build.ihub.app (USA), build.ihubapp.ca (CAD) or build.ihubapp.com.au(AUS)

2. Select Channels & Members > Channels

3. Select which channel you would like to set a Default Role for

4. Select "Roles"

5. Select the Channel Role you would like to make the Default Role (the star next a Channel roles means this is the currently set Default Role

6. Select the 'triple dot' button to open additional options

7. Select 'Make default'

How to Assign a Channel Role

1. Log into the Builder at build.ihub.app (USA) or build.ihubapp.ca (CAD)

2. Navigate to 'Channels & Members' > 'Channels' > Select the Channel that you wish to edit

3. Find the user that you wish to assign a new Channel Role to in the Members List

4. Expand a member to view additional information.

5. Select the dropdown and change to whichever new role you see fit.
